Poppies in the Field

$400.00

A field of Poppies, brightly colored waving in the summer breeze.

Poppies are often used to pay tribute to those who have fallen while serving their country.

This poppy series was created when our family finally found out what happened to our great grandfather. He was killed in battle in WWII and never came home.

The red poppy in the Language of Flowers symbolizes Remembrance.

Poppies in the Field

Acrylic on canvas

18 x 18 x 1.5″

20/100 signed and dated

Another in the Poppy Series painted this summer. I had just learned about my grandmother being a British Home Child to Canada and the circumstances of how she left her home in England. Her father, my great grandfather, was killed in the war. While I had always known we wore poppies in July and on other occasions, I was never sure why except to remember fallen soldiers.

I had to work out the symbolism of poppies and hold that close with their beauty.

Bold, strong, resilient, hope.

Acrylic paints mixed with matte and gloss gel medium, brushes and a variety of palette knives are used to create this 18 x 18″ painting.
This painting is one of a kind, original work created in Charlotte, North Carolina by Professional Artist, Pamela Roberts
